The Society welcomes all gifts, including money to help restore the RCA dog that was so much a part of communication history. “Nipper,” a papier mache version of the fox terrier that became the international trademark of Radio Corporation of America, was a fixture on downtown Roanoke’s Campbell Avenue sitting in the front of Hobbie Brothers Music Co. from the 1950s until the store closed in 1982. Nipper then moved to the Roanoke History Museum. Now, the polychromed dog with glass inset eyes needs some tender loving care to survive. Nipper can be seen in the Visit Virginia’s Blue Ridge Lobby.
